While Rajinikanth’s “Coolie” is setting the box office on fire with record advance sales in North America, the NTR and Hrithik Roshan starrer War 2 is lagging behind.
As of August 7, 2025, the spy thriller has generated $266k in advance ticket sales in North America ahead of its August 13th premiere. In the United States alone, it has made $246k across 662 locations and 1,776 shows, with 9,312 tickets sold.
Despite being part of a successful franchise, the film is struggling to maintain strong momentum.
The biggest hurdle for “War 2” is Rajinikanth’s “Coolie,” which has captured the spotlight. Even though “War 2” has secured most of the IMAX screens in North America, it hasn’t managed to attract audiences in a big way for advance bookings.

NTR’s previous Telugu film “Devara” posted nearly $3 million on day one (including premieres). It remains to be seen how much War 2 will ultimately collect. The film is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by YRF.
