Ensure Congress’ victory in Jubilee Hills bypoll, Ponnam tells cadre

Hyderabad: BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday said that the development of the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency is possible only with a party which is in power. He assured the people of the constituency that the Congress govt will ensure the development of the constituency on all fronts.Ahead of the by-election to the Jubilee Hills constituency, likely to be held in the next couple of months, Ponnam, accompanied by cabinet colleagues Tummala Nageswara Rao and G Vivek Venkatswamy, held a meeting with the in-charges of the polling booths in the assembly segment.Ponnam, who also serves as the in-charge minister of Hyderabad district, instructed party leaders to go door-to-door and inform the voters that the Congress govt had issued 6,000 new ration cards and added 15,000 new members to the existing ration cards in the constituency alone.“In Hyderabad district alone, the Congress govt distributed 55,000 new ration cards, making thousands of families eligible for fine rice, 10 lakh Aarogyasri coverage, fee reimbursement, Indiramma houses, and other welfare schemes. The Congress govt is solving the problems faced by the people in the city, which were neglected by the previous BRS govt,” he said.Ponnam further directed that, irrespective of who the party will field for the bypoll, all efforts should be made to ensure the Congress candidate’s victory. He noted that people were looking at the Congress govt with a lot of hope, citing its win in the Secunderabad Cantonment seat by-election.“The Congress govt is providing 200 units of free electricity, LPG cylinders at Rs 500, free travel in RTC buses for women, 3,500 Indiramma houses in each assembly constituency, and 60,000 govt jobs for the youth.
