Update on the restoration
As far as the build is concerned, it had recently gained some traction. All the glasses have been fitted, all the electricals are working now, the ceiling trim has been installed, the seats are being made as we speak, and the best part is, it now starts with a key, because the diesel tank connections have been made!
I’ve also finished negotiations with the owner of the donor car. He has agreed to sell me all the required parts for 15k.
Being done by local mechanics of a semi-urban city like Chapra, the work may not match what some of the tier-1 Cities offer, but they have definitely managed to do a decent job till now.
The engine bay. Notice the new horns. Still needs to be cleaned thoroughly. Only misses the PS parts now. The horns are Bosch Symphonys and are quite loud:
Testing the lights:
New rear windshield, number plate appliqué and Boot lock. The latch is from Maruti 800, keyhole from Indica and lock cover from Estate. The appliqué has been fabricated in House:
Paint still needs rubbing and compounding, but has come out decently well:
Dashboard has been repainted and installed:
The ceiling. I think they’ve done a great job:
The donor car. I’ve paid the deposit for the parts, but waiting for the rains to stop, so that my mechanic can go and get the parts. It’s located in a ‘Forest’ with a lot of potentially dangerous creatures:
There’s a buried Maruti 800 as well:
Here’s a list of what is left now:
1. Power steering and Hand brake
2. Interiors (work ongoing)
3. Body fittings (to be done once the interiors are complete)
