BHPian Shaktimaan recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Review of my VW TiguanI got my white Tiguan in April 2022. I’ve covered 42,000 kms in the past 3.5 years. The things I love about this car are the smooth and free-revving EA888 TSI engine, the silky-smooth DQ381 DSG gearbox, the noise isolation of the cabin and the overall premium feel of the faux-leather seats. The air conditioning works nicely to cool the cabin down even in the harsh summer. The compact size and light steering make it easy to drive in city traffic. The headlights are very powerful and the beam turns with your steering wheel movements. Quite a useful feature, one that I didn’t even know I wanted. Wired CarPlay works flawlessly but the screen is a bit on the smaller side for navigation. Overall, the car puts a grin on my face every time I drive. I do some light off-roading as I am a hobbyist bird photographer. The AWD system inspires confidence, though I have never noticed it turning on or off. It just does its job quietly in the background. The negatives are: ride quality is harsh, the sound system is average (should have included a subwoofer at this price) and it takes only 95 octane petrol, which is harder to find in smaller towns. The sunroof liner is almost see-through, which feels cheap and lets in a lot more heat than necessary. I don’t really care about a 360-degree camera or ventilated seats. So far, the experience has been 98% flawless. Once, the exhaust made a clanking sound. On inspection, I found a screw loose and the dealership tightened it. This happened 25,000 kms ago and the problem has not come back. Then, at about 35,000 km, I got a message about a fuel system fault. The dealership did some kind of software update and the problem is gone without any hardware repairs. Since day 1, I have filled only 95 octane petrol. Other than these, I have not had any problems. The car is totally silent and does not make any suspension noise or metallic noise during gearshifts as some others on this forum have noticed with their own vehicles. The car has held up very well over the past 3.5 years, there are no rattles or squeaks anywhere. The tyres are still the original ones that came with the car. Even with 42,000 kms the tyres have plenty of tread left in them. Plus, so far I’ve had only 1 puncture. So I’m planning to change all 4 tyres together at 50,000 kms with the exact same set, I’m satisfied with them. I get the car serviced every 8-10,000 kms even though VW recommends a service interval of 15,000 kms. And recently, at 41000 kms / 3 years, I got a bigger service done, including changing of DSG oil and 4Motion Haldex fluid. I don’t want to wait till the 60,000 km mark. Overall, my Tiguan is a great car and I hope to drive it till at least 120,000 kms before I replace it. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
