Detroit Tigers’ Scott Harris on bullpen market at trade deadline
Detroit Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris talks July 31, 2025, about his evaluation of the bullpen market at the trade deadline.
CHICAGO — Sawyer Gipson-Long has joined the Detroit Tigers.
The Tigers activated Gipson-Long from his rehab assignment, making him available out of the bullpen Wednesday, Aug. 13, in the series finale against the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field.
To make room, the Tigers optioned right-handed reliever Codi Heuer to Triple-A Toledo.
Gipson-Long hasn’t pitched for the Tigers since June 26 because of neck stiffness that required two separate rehab assignments. He made four rehab starts with Triple-A Toledo before returning to the Tigers.
Although Gipson-Long was supposed to pitch for the Mud Hens on Wednesday for a fifth rehab start, the Tigers activated him to pitch out of their bullpen in Wednesday’s series finale against the White Sox.
