World’s leading EV (electric vehicle) manufacturer, BYD currently has four models on sale in India – eMax 7, Act 3, Seal and Sealion 7. Now, the company is set to expand its Indian product portfolio with its most affordable electric SUV globally – the BYD Atto 2.
Launch Timeline & Rivals:
Recent sighting of the Atto 2 hints at its imminent launch. While there is no official confirmation on its India launch timeline, the electric SUV is expected to arrive towards the end of this year. In the compact electric SUV segment, it will face challenge from the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser.

Globally, the BYD Atto 2 is available with a 45.1kWh battery pack, paired with a FWD electric motor, producing power worth 175bhp and 290Nm of torque. The EV offers a claimed NEDC range of 380km on a single charge. It accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 7.9 seconds and offers a top speed of 160kmph. The SUV supports DC fast charger of up to 65kW, which can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% n 35-40 minutes, and AC charging of up to 11kW, which takes around 5.5 hours for a full charge.
Interior & Features:
Similar to other BYD EVs, the Atto 2 has a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The EV also offers a panoramic sunroof, multiple USB ports, connected car features, leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting, multiple airbags, ADAS suite and more.
Design, Dimensions & Colours:
In global markets, the BYD Atto 2 is offered in three colour options – Hiking Green, Climbing Grey and Skiing White.
