Police deport 20 Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The city police, in coordination with central agencies, deported 20 Bangladeshi nationals who were illegally residing in the city. The deportation was carried out on Thursday through the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal. According to central crime station (CCS) officials, the group, comprising nine women and 11 men, was apprehended in operations across three city police commissionerates. All were found carrying Bangladeshi identity documents. They were housed at the CCS foreigner detention centre while their cases were processed. The CCS communicated their details to the Bangladesh embassy via the ministry of external affairs. The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and the ministry of home affairs were also notified. On Thursday, a Border Security Force team escorted the group to an authorised entry point on the India-Bangladesh border for repatriation. Sources said a faster deportation method was used in this case to expedite the process. “Earlier, cases were booked, trials conducted, and after conviction and completion of the sentence, deportation would follow. Here, since the 20 were not involved in any other crimes apart from illegal entry, they were deported at the earliest possible stage. This approach is also being implemented in other states,” a source said.
