Veteran Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor is fast emerging as a sought-after choice for father and mentor roles in big-ticket films. His impactful performance as Ranbir Kapoor’s father in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal” and his recent stint as the RAW chief in “War 2” have further strengthened his pan-Indian appeal.
Now, director Venky Atluri has reportedly approached Anil Kapoor for a pivotal role in his upcoming bilingual project. The director is known for films like Rang De, Sir, and Lucky Baskhar. The film stars Tamil superstar Suriya in the lead, with Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju playing the heroine.
Bankrolled by Sithara Entertainments, the project is being made in both Telugu and Tamil.
If he comes on board, this will mark Anil Kapoor’s return to Telugu cinema after decades. Early in his career, he played the lead in Bapu’s “Vamsavriksham,” and now he seems poised to make a grand comeback in a significant character role.
