Hyderabad: A five-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed by a teenage boy in Hyderabad, said the police on Sunday. The incident came to light when the minor’s family filed a missing complaint. The police took the teenage boy into custody for an interrogation. During this, the accused confessed to the murder on August 12, according to a media report. Following the chilling revelation by the teenage accused, the police sent him to a state-run hospital for an age determination test.
The accused, a worker at a timber depot, spotted the minor boy when he was playing near his house. The accused lured him to a secluded place, not far from home, by offering him a packet of biscuits. Then, he sexually assaulted the minor boy and strangled him to death, fearing that the minor would tell everyone about the incident, according to news agency PTI.
Missing Complaint Launches Search Operation
Meanwhile, the minor boy’s family got worried due to his absence. They filed a complaint at the Uppal Police Station, which prompted a search operation for him. When the police checked the CCTV footage in the surrounding areas, they found the boy being “taken” away by a person.
They took the suspect into custody on August 15, who later admitted to killing the minor boy, the police said. Following that, the police also recovered the dead body of the minor boy from the bushes near his house.
Following protocol, the teenager was sent for the age determination test. His reports are awaited. Officials said the further proceedings would be carried out on the basis of the reports. As of now, the case has been filed under relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, and BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) was registered.
