WARANGAL: Two child kidnappings in the past 15 days have caused panic and widespread alarm in Warangal, with culprits targeting the children of migrant workers who had come to the city in search of livelihood.
On Saturday night, a nine-month-old baby girl from a migrant family from Rajasthan went missing. The infant disappeared while sleeping with her parents on the second platform of Warangal Railway Station, triggering panic among locals.
This was the second such incident in the district. On August 2, a 14-month-old girl was abducted while sleeping beside her father near the bus stand.
Following complaints from the parents in both cases, the Intezarganj police registered cases and launched investigations. Five special teams have been deployed, and police are reviewing CCTV footage from the railway station and bus stand areas to trace the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, back-to-back abductions in crowded areas such as the railway station and bus stand have left locals worried. There are growing demands for police to quickly apprehend the culprits and step up security in busy areas to ensure children’s safety.
