The Eluru District Prohibition and Excise Office on Monday (August 18, 2025) issued a notification announcing the draw of lots for the grant of bar licences in the district. The licence will be valid from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2028, in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Excise (Grant of Licence of Selling by Bar and Conditions of Licence) Rules, 2025.
District Prohibition and Excise Officer A. Avulalah, who is also the licence issuing authority, said that a total of 18 bar licences have been sanctioned in Urban Local Bodies, Tourism Centres, Urban Development Authority areas, and other notified jurisdictions within the district. The selection of applicants will be carried out through a transparent lottery system.
Officials said that the draw process will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, ensuring equal opportunity for all eligible applicants.
Applicants intending to participate must complete online or hybrid registration and file their applications on or before 5:00 p.m. on August 26, 2025. For those submitting offline applications, the designated venue will be the Office of the District Prohibition and Excise Officer, Eluru.
The final draw of lots will be held at 8:00 a.m. on August 28, 2025, at the Godavari Conference Hall in the Eluru Collectorate under the supervision of the competent authority as prescribed in Rule 13 of the Excise Rules. Successful applicants will be granted the right to sell Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and Foreign Liquor by bar in the approved locations for the three-year licence period.
The notification was issued following the government’s orders vide GO Ms. No. 275 and 276, Revenue (Excise-II) Department, dated August 13, 2025, and subsequent instructions from the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, Andhra Pradesh, through proceedings dated August 16, 2025.
