A final update on the car
It has been 14 years and six months and with just six months remaining on the registration validity, I thought it was prudent to exchange the vehicle for a new one. So I bought a Jimny in exchange for this Fabia 1.6.
The 14 years I spent with this car have been extremely satisfying:
- Covered 1,39,500 happy kilometres
- From the northern mountains to the southern oceans and anywhere in between, the car has never let me down
- Many occasions of driving over 1000 fatigue-free kilometres on a single day
- Overhauled suspension and gearbox once each, paint repairs done after 13 years, wheel speed sensors changed multiple times, igniter / spark plugs changed once, centre lock / unlock button on centre console failed more often than it worked
So, overall, a very good purchase decision in 2011; a pity this car is not available any more in India.
