Hyderabad: The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad is now equipped with Virtual Information Kiosks (VIKs) and interactive terminal maps, powered by a centralized system to provide consistent and up-to-date information to air travelers, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), part of the GMR Aero-led consortium, announced on Monday.
The rollout includes 10 strategically placed kiosks across check-in halls, boarding gates, arrivals, and baggage claim areas. These offer passengers real-time flight updates, 3D navigation, emergency support, Wi-Fi access for international travelers, and instant feedback options.
In addition, GHIAL has introduced interactive terminal maps on its official website (www.hyderabad.aero), helping passengers plan their journey with detailed insights into gates, retail zones, dining outlets, and essential amenities.
Key features of the VIKs include real-time updates via touchscreen or boarding pass scan, passport-based login for international travelers, 3D maps with QR code transfer to mobile devices, SOS alerts for medical, fire and security support, instant feedback to improve services, and a user-friendly design covering parking, arrivals, departures, and service touchpoints, the press release said.
Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GHIAL, said:
“The intelligent kiosks and enhanced digital maps mark a significant step forward in our digital transformation agenda. These systems go beyond static information delivery by offering passengers seamless support for their airport journey. These measures are aimed at delivering a seamless, intuitive, and world-class airport experience.”
