Chairman and Managing Director of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) Md. Musharraf Faruqui visited the location where five persons were electrocuted to death on Sunday when the chariot of Srikrishna Janmashtami celebrations they were pulling came in contact with live wires in Ramanthapur.

He enquired with the local officials of the Discom as also the local residents about the accident. The local officials of the power utility informed the CMD that an unused television cable snapped and had fallen on the 11kV overhead line and then onto the chariot with the metal/iron frame allowing transmission of power and led to electrocution. They stated that there was no negligence on part of the Discom officials.

At the accident site, the overhead 11 kV line was passing from height of over 20 feet from the ground and the overhead line had been changed into aerial bundled (AB) cable in the past. They blamed the television cable between two buildings across the road for the accident. The CMD instructed the Superintending Engineer of Habsiguda to investigate into the accident and submit a report.

Meanwhile, the local residents surrounded the TGSPDCL authorities and demanded justice/compensation from the utility by raising slogans against them when the CMD reached the location along with local officials.
