Hyderabad: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has called for a report from the Chief Secretary on the incident related to stray dogs menace and on medical facilities, vaccine availability, and preventive measures being taken by the government.
Responding to media reports, the Commission sought the report from the Chief Secretary by September 22, 2025. At least 30 people including children suffered after stray dogs attacked them in separate incidents in erstwhile Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy district.
In another media report highlighting the plight of an elderly woman, Shakunthala, who was abandoned near Kamareddy railway station, the Commission has directed the District Collector, Kamareddy to report by September 22 on steps taken for her care, welfare benefits, and action against her son and daughter-in-law.
The Commission, headed by Chairperson Dr. Justice Shameem Akther, has taken suo-motu cognizance of the above two media reports highlighting serious human rights concerns and issued instructions to officials to submit separate reports.
