A’ja Wilson has been playing some of the best basketball of her career as of late. While Wilson’s 2025 WNBA season started as business as usual, posting monster individual numbers, it did not translate to team success. The Aces held a record of 11-11 at the All-Star break this year.
After winning back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023, the Aces, led by Wilson, failed to reach the WNBA Finals in 2024. They retooled a bit, sending Kelsey Plum to the Los Angeles Sparks in exchange for Jewell Loyd.
While it appeared to take a while for the new-look Aces roster to gel, the Aces and Wilson are now playing their best stretch of basketball of the season. Since the Aces suffered the worst loss in WNBA history by a home team, losing 111-58 to the Minnesota Lynx on August 2, the Aces flipped a switch.
A’ja Wilson Continues to Lead Aces Late-Season Turnaround
The Aces currently hold the longest winning-streak in the WNBA, winners of six straight games following an 86-83 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night.
As for Wilson, she made WNBA history against the Mercury with her 30-point, 16-rebound performance. Wilson passed Tina Charles for the most games with at least 30 points and 15 rebounds (7) in WNBA history.

A’ja Wilson Makes Wild Postgame Comments After Making WNBA History
She then followed up her historic performance with one of the wildest postgame press conferences around.
"I told myself after the All-Star break, to just let the game come to me. If I try to force it because I want this win so bad for my team, it’s like forcing a fart, all you get is (expletive)," Wilson said.

Wilson’s Aces’ teammate, Chelsea Gray, was seated at the podium next to Wilson for the wild postgame press conference. The instant Wilson said what she said, Gray’s face dropped, as she couldn’t believe what had just come out of Wilson’s mouth.
All Gray could muster at the end of the clip was, "That’s gonna go viral!" and, "I’m sorry!"
Wilson looked completely unbothered, and unapologetic for her comments. Despite her salty language off the court, she certainly has let her game "come to her" on the court.
She’s fresh off setting another WNBA record earlier this week, when she became the first player in WNBA history to score at least 30 points and grab at least 20 rebounds in a single game.
She ranks second in points per game (22.3), second in rebounds per game (10.0), and first in blocks per game (2.1).
Wilson now stands as the third favorite to win the MVP award (plus-1200). Her Aces also continue to climb the leaderboard, now sitting in fifth place in the standings with a record of 20-14.
