Naidu directs CRDA to approve projects, iconic bridge design in Amaravati

Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday instructed the officials of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to select a unique design for the proposed iconic bridge on the Krishna river, which will reflect the rich culture and heritage of Amaravati. He suggested including Kuchipudi dance postures in the iconic bridge designs.The 51st CRDA authority meeting, chaired by Naidu, gave approval to nine proposals on Monday. The authority approved the establishment of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for various prestigious projects in the capital, Amaravati, including the proposed greenfield airport, NTR memorial, sports city, smart industries, riverfront, inner ring road, and ropeway. The authority also approved the proposal for land pooling for a gems and jewellery park in the gold cluster at Mangalagiri.The CRDA’s proposal to acquire land for a gold cluster on 78 acres at Atmakuru in Mangalagiri received approval. The authority also approved special LPS regulations for this purpose. Naidu directed the development of a special ecosystem for the gold cluster. According to an estimate, this cluster can generate employment for 20,000 people and has the potential to attract Rs 5,000 crore in investments.Approval was also given for works worth Rs 904 crore under the LPS zones critical infra and investment plan for drains, water supply, and other infrastructure in 29 village panchayats within the Amaravati capital region. The CRDA authority further approved the removal of the term “assigned” from the ownership certificate issued under the land pooling scheme. Approval was granted for a Rs 411 crore sewage water treatment plant and a Rs 376.60 crore water distribution centre in Amaravati. Additional land allocations for VIT and SRM Universities were also approved, with 100 acres each for VIT and SRM.The chief minister directed the officials to undertake construction projects in the capital on a war footing. He said that the progress in Amaravati works should be made available online in real-time. He observed that the capital should take a definitive shape this season. He noted that projects like sports city should meet international standards. He mentioned that a prestigious bioengineering university would soon be established in Amaravati. Highlighting the unique geographical advantages of Amaravati, he stressed that all constructions should be iconic. The CRDA authority meeting was attended by the minister for MAUD, P Narayana, chief secretary K Vijayanand, and senior officials from CRDA and ADC.
