Hyderabad: Five important departments of the South Central Railway (SCR) — commercial, operations, finance, security, and medical — are now led by women officers.K Padmaja, principal chief operations manager, is currently handling the operations department, while Aroma Singh Thakur is leading the security department as the inspector general-cum-principal chief security commissioner. T Hema Sunitha is heading the finance wing as principal financial advisor, and Ity Pandey is looking after the commercial department as principal chief commercial manager. Nirmala Narasimhan is working as principal chief medical director of the medical department.This is the first time in SCR’s history that these departments are being led by women officers. The departments ensure smooth operation of services, safety and security of passengers, and well-being of employees. SCR GM Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said the zone has been promoting women empowerment by undertaking various initiatives to improve their participation.
