Sajjanar Welcomes Centre’s Decision to Ban Online Betting

Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer and TGSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar on Wednesday welcomed the Central Government’s decision to ban online betting, which has been destroying countless young lives, and termed it as a historic step.

In a tweet, he said the Central government’s move would not only save many lives but also protect the very social fabric of the society from the dangerous consequences of gambling addiction.

“For the past several months, I have been relentlessly raising my voice against betting apps and their harmful impact on the youth. It is a matter of pride that a movement — #SayNoToBettingApps — was launched, involving millions of concerned citizens from across India and even abroad, who came together for this cause,” he said.

This collective fight has finally borne fruit. The decision will greatly benefit India’s youth, enabling them to focus on building a golden future through education, career, and creativity rather than falling into the trap of psychological and financial enslavement.

It is also a major step towards leading society in a healthier and more progressive direction, he said.

“Young friends, I once again urge you: stay away from betting apps! Channel your energy, talent, and time into achieving your goals. By doing so, you will not only shape your own future but also contribute to a stronger and brighter India,” he added.
