Former Rajya Sabha MP T.G. Venkatesh on Thursday (August 21, 2025) inaugurated the ASMITA Rugby League at the Adarsha Vidya Mandir Grounds on the outskirts of Kurnool.

ASMITA Rugby League is being held under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI). State Rugby Association general secretary Ramanjaneyulu, Adarsha Vidya Mandir Educational Institutions Director Dr. Harikishan and representatives of various sports associations from the district were present on the occasion.

Speaking at the inaugural, Mr. Venkatesh said that Rugby game was recently introduced to the district and excelling in the sport will have better future for the players and as the game was new, there would not be much competition. He said that there is a possibility of the game getting more encouragement and patronage in future.
