The second flood warning was withdrawn at Telangana’s temple town of Bhadrachalam at 9 a.m. on Friday as the water level in the Godavari gradually receded through the day.
The Godavari flowed a few notches above the first flood warning level of 43 feet at the temple town late on Friday evening, according to official data.
The water level in the river is expected to decrease further in the next 12 hours.
The heavy rain that has been pounding the catchment areas of the Godavari River in Maharashtra for the past few days abated slightly, bringing the water level in the Godavari at Telangana’s temple town of Bhadrachalam to fall steadily on Friday.
Meanwhile, all the upstream irrigation projects in the Godavari catchment areas spread in the erstwhile Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad and Nizambad districts are filled to the brim.
The water level in the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) stood at 1090.7 feet as against the full reservoir level (FRL) of 1091 feet at 6 p.m. on Friday.
As many as 16 spillway gates of the reservoir were lifted, discharging surplus water downstream. At 6 p.m., the instant inflows stood at 78,000 cusecs and instant outflows recorded at 78,812 cusecs.
