Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force of Hyderabad Police, along with the Railways Police, arrested four interstate drug peddlers from Odisha and seized 91 kg of marijuana worth Rs. 22.75 lakh on Thursday.
The arrested persons were identified as Prakash Chandra Pradhan (47), Basanta Badatya (20), Ghanshyam Badatya (33), and Chitrasena Jani (19), all residents of Ganjam district in Odisha.
Police said the gang procured the contraband from a supplier, Prashanth, in Odisha and transported it to Pune concealed in trolleys and backpacks. The suspects had reportedly transported such consignments more than 20 times in the past year.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered, and efforts are underway to nab the main supplier. Authorities also urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and appealed to citizens to report drug-related information on the police helpline 1908.
