Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP has strongly condemned the unlawful arrest of party president N Ramchander Rao and other leaders, alleging that the state Congress govt resorted to such actions to deflect attention from its failures on Friday.Rao’s convoy was stopped, and he was taken into custody at Moinabad while travelling to Hyderabad following a 24-hour tour of the Chevella assembly constituency. After his arrest, he was taken to the Moinabad police station. In addition, police detained several BJP leaders and hundreds of party workers who were on their way to participate in a protest titled “Save Hyderabad” near the secretariat. The demonstration was intended to draw attention to the Congress govt’s failure to provide basic amenities to residents within the GHMC limits. In a statement, party spokesperson and media in-charge NV Subhash said the protest sought to hold the Revanth Reddy govt accountable for its inability to address public grievances and its neglect of Hyderabad’s development. He noted that hundreds of BJP workers were taken into custody as they approached the protest site.
