Why you should buy that big bike: Weekend ride on my BMW R1300GS

Believe me, happiness has no price. A healthy mind and body are priceless!

BHPian MileCruncher recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

This weekend, I went on a group ride to Satara to see the Kaas plateau. However, the flowers have not bloomed this season. So went to Thosegaar falls and Chalkewadi windmills. Surreal views. However, on the return, I took a slightly longish road via Bhor Ghats – Varanda Ghats – Mahad – Mangaon – Pen – Panvel – Mumbai.

The Bhor to Mahad section just made my soul content. What scenery, what views! There were waterfalls by the road, a long lake, a big overflowing river and fog. And to top it all, bad roads, water crossings (water streams on the road) meant my GS was utilised well with tail sliding and whatnot!

Ate corn at a small shack by a waterfall on the roadside.

The reason we buy bikes is to explore, unless you buy it to race on the track. All these places that I went yesterday are within a 200 Kms radius of South Mumbai. And you can’t enjoy these places in a car. You need an agile bike to traverse the bad road and go places.

So if your heart says you need a big bike, go ahead and buy it. Fulfill that dream. YOLO and all that Gen Z lingo.

Believe me, happiness has no price. A healthy mind and a body is priceless!

P.S.: I have ridden my bike 2300 Kms in 2.5 Months. One guy I rode with has done 8000 Kms in 8 months on his GS 1300. Another guy has done 7XXX Kms on his GSA 900 in 7 months.
