The portion of the NH in Tamil Nadu is really good and wide unlike what it is in Kerala.
Bhpian Fire KL10 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
I am a regular traveler driving between Coimbatore and Bangalore or Shimoga (via Mysuru).
So I decided to drive to Bangalore (Yelahanka) through a different route not passing through Hosur – which takes me to M G Road and the dreaded Hebbal Junction.
My wife (who is my navigator during the drives and also in my life) and I started early hitting NH 544 around 0600hrs. The portion of the NH in Tamil Nadu is really good and wide unlike what it is in Kerala.
We stopped at Sankagiri for a cuppa in a coffee outlet bang on the NH surrounded by scenic views. Wash room was very clean and there was a petrol pump adjacent to it. We proceeded towards Krishnagiri, where we stopped for breakfast at A2B. Food was fresh and tasty and was washed down with hot filter coffee.
The next big town we entered was Malur (KA) from where I wanted to enter NE7 – the work on this portion of the NE was completed in Karnataka while it was still under construction in Tamil Nadu. However, Google directed me to Hoskote where we encountered considerable traffic. These roads took us through rural areas where the roads were not so good but motor able and memorable. The rustic scenery compensated for the not so good roads.
A few kilometers after Hoskote, we entered the NE7 using the up ramp.
While I have driven on the Delhi – Mumbai NE4, Delhi – Meerut NE3, Delhi – Agra Yamuna Expressway – I found nothing exceptional in NE7 except for the fact that it was toll free; then.
After driving a short stretch, the NE7 merged with the NH648. While heading for Devanahalli we could see aircraft taking off from the airport.
On reaching the halli (village in Kannada) we drove through the satellite city of Devanahalli and joined NH 44 to enter Yelahanka reaching our destination at around 1400hrs.
I will share my experience of driving to Bangalore via Dimbham Ghats – Hasanur – Kollegala – Maddur – NH 275 in my next post.
