Hyderabad: The Telangana high court has issued notices to HYDRAA chief AV Ranganath in a contempt case related to Bathukammakunta. The contempt petition was filed by A Sudhakar Reddy, who claims ownership of the lake and has previously secured favourable orders from the court.“The alleged contemnor (HYDRAA chief) is represented. A reply, if any, shall be filed in the meantime,” recorded the division bench comprising Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya and Justice BR Madhusudhan Rao, who heard the matter on August 21.The high court had earlier granted a status quo order on the disputed land, measuring seven acres and located at Bagh Amberpet, Amberpet. Subsequently, HYDRAA filed a petition seeking to vacate the stay. However, the bench modified the stay, allowing HYDRAA to undertake pre-monsoon works necessary to prevent inundation and potential flooding of neighbouring colonies in the ensuing monsoon season. At the same time, the court declined Sudhakar Reddy’s request to appoint a commissioner to ascertain the status of ongoing works. In the contempt petition, Reddy claimed that HYDRAA had violated the high court’s orders by commencing work at the disputed site. He requested the court to appoint an advocate commissioner to physically inspect the land and submit a detailed report. He also submitted photographic evidence purportedly showing the work carried out by HYDRAA.The matter has been posted for further hearing on August 28.
