Vijayawada: The Nallapadu police of Guntur swiftly resolved a sensational murder case within 14 hours, arresting a woman and her lover for killing her husband over an illicit affair.
The victim, Munnangi Pradeep (43) of Marypriya Nagar, was earlier reported missing by his mother. Investigations revealed that Pradeep’s wife, Mariyamma, was in a relationship with Yadala Sambasiva Rao. Angered by repeated quarrels, the duo allegedly plotted his murder.
On August 23, Sambasiva Rao took Pradeep out for drinks, allegedly plied him with alcohol and later strangled him near Nehru Nagar Tanda in Bollapalli mandal. Following an extra-judicial confession before the local VRO, both accused were arrested the same day and remanded.
Guntur district SP Satish Kumar, commended DSP Bhanodaya and Nallapadu SI Ramakrishna’s team for cracking the case promptly.
