Vijayawada: To provide better marketing for weavers’ products and bring all styles of handloom products from across the country to a single platform, the AP handloom and textiles department inaugurated the 14-day national handloom expo titled Gandhi Bunkar Mela at Sri Sesha Sai Kalyanamandapam in Vijayawada on Monday. The 14-day expo-cum-sale mela, held from August 25 to September 7, was inaugurated by govt advisor (handlooms and handicrafts) Suchitra Ella, along with handlooms and textiles commissioner G Rekha Rani. A total of 95 handloom weaver societies from different states, including 45 weaver societies from AP, set up their stalls with cotton/silk sarees, Kalamkari, and other items on display.
