The NVH is good, there are acres of space, the dimensions are manageable in traffic, and the steering is light.

Had some time to kill, so checked out this little Kia.
I am a fan of tall-boy designs since they liberate so much space inside. The first Skoda Yeti still holds a special place in my heart. That said, I don’t find the Syros particularly attractive from any angle. This is purely my opinion, and not to offend potential / actual owners.

The interiors are rather pleasant. The aforementioned tall-boy design frees up ample shoulder room and headroom. However, the armrest is pathetically small and should have been longer. The steering wheel is very nice to look at, and a definite change with the offset KIA logo (I actually like it). However, it only tilts up and down – no telescopic action here.
The rear window shades are provided in every variant. These rear seats also have ventilated seats, but only cool the actual portion you sit on, and not the more sweaty area between the shoulders. Why this half measure? Either give full ventilation or don’t.
Despite the seat cooling and the window shades, the rear still felt hot. The cooling felt just adequate at the rear, though it was better up front. I suppose the large windows have contributed as well.
Over bad roads, there was a great deal of tossing and tumbling. This is in no way a cosseting ride and will be downright uncomfortable over bad patches.
The DCT has definite turbo-lag in the very low rpm range when starting out, or after a stationary wait at the next signal. This is not a big issue, because during the rest of the time, it is predictable and good. Still, DCT is not something that is exactly very reliable in Indian conditions.
Driving the Syros is a calm and unhurried affair. The NVH is good, there are acres of space, the dimensions are manageable in traffic, and the steering is light. In short, it is an agreeable city car.
The jury is still out on these modifications, though :

To summarize, at 20.1 Lakhs for the top petrol DCT model, the Syros is actually a pretty decent car. Just be aware of its shortcomings (like every other car) and if that is acceptable to you, then it is a worthy contender.
