Key Feature Goes Missing On RERA Website

Hyderabad: The Last Update Date column, one of the key features that updated homebuyers of the project progress, has gone missing from the website of Telangana RERA, raising concerns among homebuyers.

The column showed when a project’s details were last updated or uploaded by the builder, allowing buyers to easily check if quarterly disclosures were being made as mandated under Section 11 of the RERA Act.

“When I was checking my project on the portal, it used to be simple to know whether the builder was updating regularly. Now, without the date, I will not know when it has been updated, I will not know if the details I see are current or months old,” said Suresh Kumar, a prospective homeowner.

“Without the update date, I have no way of knowing if the information on my project is fresh or months old,” said another homebuyer who wished to remain anonymous.

“The removal of the ‘last update date’ column from the TGRERA website has made it harder for homebuyers to track whether developers are updating project details every quarter as mandated under Section 11 of the RERA Act, 2016 and Rule 16 of the Telangana RERA Rules, 2017. Earlier, one could easily see the compliance status at a glance, but now a layperson must sift through multiple documents. In practice, this has also reduced the frequency of updates by developers. Such a step dilutes the very spirit of transparency that RERA was meant to ensure and weakens enforceability of compliance,” said Nikunj Dugar, an advocate.

When contacted, a senior RERA official acknowledged the concern and explained that the column was taken down as part of the ongoing changes to the website. “We are in the process of restructuring the website to make it more user-friendly. The removal of the ‘Last Update Date’ column is only temporary. Once the redesign is complete, the feature will be restored,” he said.
