Hyderabad: Telangana has secured a place in the National Teachers’ Awards 2025 through Maram Pavithra, a biological science teacher at Zilla Parishad High School, Penpahad, Suryapet district. She is the only teacher from the state to be selected this year from six nominations. The awards will be presented by the President of India at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on September 5, with each award carrying a certificate, a silver medal and Rs.50,000 in cash.
“It is a matter of pride for the state that Smt. Maram Pavithra…has been selected for the National Teachers’ Award 2025,” noted the Telangana school education department in a statement. The department also conveyed congratulations on behalf of the state government.
Pavithra said she was delighted to be recognised as the lone teacher from Telangana this year. She added that her work in the science classroom had been the basis of her application and that being chosen was a moment of happiness not just for her but also for her school and district. Maram Pavithra reportedly makes biology easy to grasp by using models, games and experiments that let students learn by doing. She prepares audio and video lessons, even songs.
Pavithra grew up in Thadakamalla village of Miryalaguda mandal, where she studied at the government high school.
Nearly 150 teachers from Telangana had applied for the award. Pavithra was the only one chosen based on her work in science teaching. Teachers in her circle have been extending their wishes and pointed out that her achievement brings honour to both the district and the state.
District collector Tejas Nand Lal Pawar congratulated her, saying it was a proud moment for Suryapet district to see a government school teacher receive national recognition.
Across India, 45 teachers have been selected this year. Pavithra’s inclusion ensures that Telangana’s presence is felt at the national stage on Teachers’ Day.
