Govt land rescued by HYDRAA in Jubilee Hills

The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) rescued government land in a layout near the Jubilee Hills Check Post on Monday, which allegedly had been under encroachment for the past two decades.

The 2,000-square-yard land reportedly worth ₹100 crore, was demarcated for public utilities in the layout of Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society. It was occupied by a person named Pilla Satyanarayana who allegedly created a fake house number and ran a nursery in it. A case was registered against the encroachment in the Jubilee Hills police station. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which was the owner/custodian of the land tried several times to get possession of the land, against which the encroacher approached the High Court, and obtained a status-quo order. However, despite status quo orders. He constructed sheds and ran his business, a statement from HYDRAA said.

HYDRAA has undertaken a full-fledged investigation into the encroachment, after receiving a complaint from the Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society through the Prajavani programme.

After confirming that it was land meant for public utilities, notices were issued to Mr. Satyanarayana, who approached the High Court yet again. The court however, took up the matter holistically and cleared the previous status-quo too, paving way for action by HYDRAA.

After demolition of the structures, HYDRAA installed sign boards at the site, indicating that it was a government land.
