A keen contest appears to be on the cards for the TDP president post of Nellore parliamentary constituency, which also roughly concurs with the district unit.
A team of observers deputed by the party high command to gather opinion from the district leaders, including Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad, Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani and A.P. Arya Vysya Development Corporation Chairman Dundi Rakesh, closeted in a meeting with the district ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, P. Narayana, Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Nellore parliamentary constituency TDP president and A.P. Waqf Board Chairman Abdul Aziz, to decide the probable candidate for the coveted post.
The opinion gathered from the stakeholders will be sent to the party high command, which will then decide on the candidate, Mr. Ramanarayana Reddy told the media later. He added that the leader chosen through the process would lead the party during the crucial phases ahead.
While the present incumbent Abdul Aziz reportedly got the support of many, senior leaders Chejarla Venkateswara Reddy and Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy are also learnt to be among the favourites.
