The only reason I can think of them wanting to do this would be to further differentiate the Oyster Perpetual from the Datejust line.
BHPIAN MAKY recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
I stopped by the Rolex AD at Jio World Plaza (Bombay) recently to have a look at the ‘new’ Blue dial that the Oyster Perpetual is now being offered with. I had put my name down for the blue OP a while ago, but that was a very different blue, metallic or sunburst as some would call it, whereas I had heard the new one is a more ‘pastel’ shade.
A short clip showing the new dial –
Some clarity on the new strap –
The new ‘Med blue’ dial.

And the previous blue for reference. A gorgeous deep metallic shade, whereas the new one looks like a poor china copy dial.

This also applies to other colour palette for the OP range I believe. This, in my opinion, is a clear step down.
The only reason I can think of them wanting to do this would be to further differentiate the Oyster Perpetual from the Datejust line.
