Finally, we did an “All Girls Trip” in our Jimny Alpha MT from Bangalore. It was a nature-themed road trip and I wanted to visit a few forests and waterfalls. The day started early morning 5am from Bangalore to Shivannasamudra falls, where the river Cauvery was flowing with all its might.
Sadly, the Barachukki falls gate was closed and was supposed to open at 9am. Then we drove to the KRS dam and Brindavan gardens and enjoyed the fury of the dam gates.
(Do you know that KRS in Mysore and Srirangapatna are islands?)
Our next destination was Iruppu falls in Brahmagiri forest range. One of the girls was sharing their experience of the lovely shower they had in Iruppu falls a few years back. Unfortunately, due to severe monsoon and continuous rains, the access to the falls was closed and we were allowed to watch it from a few steps below.
While we walked down from the falls, we got into the downstream and spent a lot of time in the flowing water.
Overnight stay at a homestay in Brahmagiri forest range.
We started around 6am the next day and drove to Nagarhole forest range. So the condition is this. You can do a joy drive inside the forest and come back. If you enter the gates by paying 20 INR, you have to exit through the next gate within one hour. If you come back on the same route, you have to bear a penalty of 1,000 INR. So we decided to drive inside and take a longer route back to Iruppu falls area, where we stayed. We covered a total distance of 70 kms and saw Leopard, Elephants, Wild Boar and hundreds of deer.
Back to homestay, had breakfast and we set out for our next adventure.
It was whitewater rafting! The skies opened up, but we enjoyed the thrilling ride, which had 4 rapids. They charge 1200 INR per head and also photos & videos for 1200 INR per boat. The day ended well. Overnight stay at the same homestay.
Next day we checked out and drove towards Wayand and visited a few places like the Glass bridge, Bali kind of swing, Eddakal caves and Phantom rock. A local person guided us to a nice chips shop and we shopped few kgs.
Then took a forest route to Sultan Bathery to find a famous local cuisine which was popular on Instagram.
We reached Mysore via Bandipur forest and we spotted a lot of elephants this time. The forest officers were so organised and they were standing with a bike at every spot where there were elephant herds and did not allow any car to stop for photos. Once we understood what they were doing, we started looking for officers rather than animals, as it was a sure shot animal spotting wherever they stood.
Took our dinner break at Vaishali Channapatna and finally reached Bangalore by midnight.
- Total Distance = 900.8 kms
- Total Driving Time = 21 Hrs 50 Mins
