How does my dashcam turn off when the car is turned off, and also can remain ON when the car is turned off for Parking monitoring?
BHPian BSASLR recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
I have the Pioneer Z820 DC 4K Dash cam; you can check the Blaupunkt Dashcam on the Kushaq thread.
Path: Dashcam cable runs from behind the A Pillar > Behind Glove Box > Behind mid console side panel > tag tied inside
1. The green circle on the mid-console panel marks only the bolt; the rest are four clips holding it in place. Removing this panel lets the cable run behind it.
2. There’s already a small ventilation hole near/ under where the phone is placed, so the dashcam cable can pass through the same to reach the 12V port.
The Pioneer head unit’s USB cable doesn’t need to go into the glove box — it’s routed through the same ventilation slit under the phone holder area.
(My car is the Signature variant, so there’s no wireless phone charger there. The first picture shows a Prestige model, while the other two are of my car.)
3. In my setup, the dashcam cable runs inside the panel and comes out near the USB port in the back. This USB powers the dashcam and shuts it off automatically when the car is off.
4. When I want the dashcam to stay on while parked, I simply use an extension with an adapter to connect it to the front 12V port.
- Dashcam turns OFF when needed and can be kept on if /needed
- The head unit USB cable is in the Phone slot and not in the Glove box
- The USB phone connection gives better music quality than Bluetooth, and the Phone stays charged.
