Kia Syros EV Spied in India for the First Time – Seen at a Charging Station

The upcoming Kia Syros EV has been spied testing in India for the very first time. The test mule was spotted at a charging station in Kochi, heavily camouflaged to conceal its design details. What can be noticed are its window lines, roof rails, pillars, shark fin antenna and body-coloured ORVMs. All these design elements appear exactly similar to its ICE counterpart. Even the front and rear lighting elements seem unchanged.

EV-Specific Cosmetic Changes Expected

Minimal EV-specific design changes are expected such as a closed-off grille and a charging port at the front. The EV might also feature EV badging on the exterior and green-coloured brake callipers as seen on its earlier spied test mule. The overall dimensions of the compact electric SUV are likely to remain unchanged.

Segment’s Most Feature-Loaded EV

Subtle EV-specific changes might also be made inside the cabin. The Kia Syros EV is likely to come with new trims and upholstery and an instrument cluster with EV-specific software. The feature kit will be identical to its ICE-powered version, making it the most feature-loaded, spacious and comfortable vehicle in its segment.

Sharing Powertrain With Inster EV?

Official specifications of the Syros EV are yet to revealed. However, reports suggest that the electric compact SUV might share its powertrain with the Hyundai Inster EV, which is set to launch in India in 2026. Globally, the Inster EV is available with two NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery pack options – 42kWh and 49kWh – delivering a claimed range of 300km and 355km, respectively.

Competition & Expected Prices:

When launched, the Kia Syros EV will be positioned against the segment leaders – the MG Windsor EV and the Tata Punch EV. It will be the most affordable electric Kia in India with prices expected to start at around Rs 14 lakh for the base variant and go up to nearly Rs 20 lakh for the top-end trim. Currently, the Carens Clavis EV is Kia’s most affordable electric SUV in India, priced between Rs 17.99 lakh – Rs 24.49 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
