Kurnool: Collector P. Ranjit Basha said on Saturday that 237 new polling stations have been proposed in the district as per the Election Commission’s directions to rationalise polling stations with more than 1,200 voters. He noted that there are currently 2,203 polling stations, and with the addition of the newly proposed ones, the total will increase to 2,440.
The collector advised representatives of political parties to directly submit their suggestions regarding the establishment of new polling stations, change of location, or change of name to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or the District Election Officer.
He further informed that a special intensive revision would soon be conducted under the supervision of the Central Election Commission. Stating that the appointment of booth-level officers had already been completed and training given to them, the Collector suggested that political parties should also appoint booth-level agents and ensure their proper training.
