Vijayawada: Six people, including a juvenile, were arrested in Guntur city after police seized approximately 2.2 kgs of ganja, police said. The contraband was valued at about Rs 15,000 and was recovered during a targeted operation in the Nagarampalem police station area.Police said the arrests followed specific intelligence and a planned surveillance operation. The police proceeded to a vacant plot behind the Zilla Parishad quarters on a tip-off and intercepted a group seen with carry bags containing suspected ganja. Several suspects attempted to flee but were pursued and taken into custody. The individuals arrested are Manda Adam (60), Manda David (20), Katari Rajashekhar (19), Shaik Irfan (27), Velivala Immanuel (20), and a juvenile.According to the police, the first two, Adam and David—a father and son from Konda Venkataappayya Colony—are alleged to have procured ganja from the Macherla area, repackaged it into smaller packets, and sold portions to local peddlers and youngsters for profit. Police said the father-son duo were sourcing and distributing ganja in and around Guntur for several months and recently brought a consignment from Macherla about a week earlier.
