Being able to legally run on the roads was something that Ikon could only dream of.

Ikon hits the road: For the first time in 7 years!
Anyone who has been following this thread knows that despite all the regular repairs and upkeep, the Ikon wasn’t doing one thing: Going out on the open roads. Since the 2018 ban, the Ikon had spent all it’s days in solitude, sitting alone in the driveway, living a low-profile life, away from the eyes of the NGT and the dreaded NDMC towing van lurking about.
Services and repairs were all done at home. If it was something too big to be addressed at home, it had to be sent like this:

Refuelling for the purpose of regular starting and maintenance looked like this:

There was no hope of it ever experiencing the breeze of hurtling down the road again. However, the recent petition before the Hon’ble Supreme Court regarding the car ban, and the resultant temporary moratorium of 4 weeks has given it a big relief.
Being able to legally run on the roads was something that Ikon could only dream of. However, now that it was a reality, I quickly got the insurance renewed, got the PUC done and ensured that the FC is still in order (valid till December 2025). With all that ensured, I drove straight to the nearest petrol pump and got a tankful of unleaded.
What every other car can take for granted, but a special moment for the Ikon. Getting fed petrol directly from the dispenser for the first time in years. The last time it was out and about, petrol was probably 50-60 Rupees a litre. The new prices would surely have made its fuel pump (read: heart) skip a beat.

And finally, driving down the road. Have been longing for this view for a long time. The speedo needle climbing to those numbers after an exile of 7 years:

The car managed to keep up with modern traffic quite well. Being a weekend, the roads were relatively empty, so I did get to floor it as well. Being a 1.3 litre Pushrod engine, I wasn’t expecting it to shove me back into my seat, but it still performed quite well.
