Hyderabad: A woman was allegedly harassed and assaulted by a self-styled occult practitioner under Tappachabutra police limits.
The suspect, identified as Ahmed, runs a small business at Jhirra and claims to perform rituals for ailments and evil-eye removal. He allegedly misbehaved with the woman on Saturday night when she approached him seeking information about her missing husband.
When the woman resisted, he attacked her. The incident drew the attention of locals, who overpowered the accused, thrashed him, and handed him over to the police.
Both the victim and the suspect were shifted to Osmania Hospital for treatment.
The Tappachabutra police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
