Bandi slams CM over Maoist remarks

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay on Tuesday hit out at chief minister A Revanth Reddy for his statement that Maoist ideology cannot be eradicated, calling it an “insult to the sacrifices of the police.”Sanjay said it was inappropriate for the chief minister to make such remarks and urged him to at least show respect to the police personnel who laid down their lives fighting Maoists. He further alleged that a Maoist was even recommended for a Padma award, and that individuals with Maoist leanings were present in the state education commission. The Union minister also claimed that Justice Sudershan Reddy, NDA candidate for vice-presidential elections, had Maoist views. He said that Revanth’s comments could mislead Telangana’s youth and push them “back towards Naxalism and the forests.” Declaring the remarks unacceptable, Sanjay stressed that the Centre’s goal is to completely wipe out Maoism from the country.
