Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress in Telangana and its central leadership of adopting double standards on CBI inquiries. He called the CBI investigation into the Kaleshwaram project and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao an insult to the people of Telangana. “It is shameful to target the visionary leader who secured Hyderabad’s drinking water needs for the next 50 years through projects such as Mallanna Sagar and Kondapochamma Sagar,” the senior BRS leader said.He was speaking after welcoming senior Congress leader Prabhakar Rao of Manuguru in Pinapaka constituency, along with his followers, into the BRS at Erravalli.Speaking on the occasion, KTR recalled that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had once dismissed the CBI as “Modi’s pocket organisation,” while chief minister A Revanth Reddy now praises it. “This double standard reflects the miserable state of the Congress party,” he said. KTR said no leader in Indian politics has achieved as much progress in a decade as KCR, whose irrigation projects have turned Telangana green while leaving opponents red with envy.He further alleged that both the Congress and the BJP are conspiring to defame KCR with baseless cases because they cannot tolerate the people’s affection for him. “Under Revanth Reddy’s rule, Telangana has been thrown into chaos in just 21 months. Farmers are standing in long queues just to buy urea. This is the reality of Congress’ misrule,” KTR said.Highlighting Telangana’s transformation, he said that in 2014, Telangana ranked 14th in agricultural production. “Under KCR’s leadership, through projects like Kaleshwaram, Sitarama, and Palamuru-Rangareddy, the state emerged as a major food producer,” he said. “Kaleshwaram is the world’s largest lift irrigation project, carrying 2 TMCs of water daily from Medigadda to Kondapochamma Sagar. It provides irrigation to lakhs of acres and drinking water to countless villages,” he added.KTR also accused Revanth Reddy of demeaning the dignity of the chief minister’s office with irresponsible remarks, unlike earlier statesmen such as NTR, Chandrababu, YSR, and KCR. He reminded that KCR ensured welfare schemes continued even during the Covid pandemic, when revenues dropped to zero, while Congress leaders remain busy making excuses.
