The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a senior assistant and in-charge revenue inspector of Nizamabad Municipal Corporation while accepting a bribe of ₹7,000.
The accused officer, identified as Karna Srinivas Rao, allegedly demanded ₹10,000 from a complainant for processing a Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) file, allotting the VLT number, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the complainant’s shop in the future without any hurdles. The demand was later reduced to ₹7,000, which he accepted.
The ACB officials recovered the tainted bribe amount from his possession.
Following his arrest, Rao was produced before the special court of SPE and ACB cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. Further investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, the ACB urged citizens to report demands of bribes by contacting the toll-free number 1064 or through its official social media platforms. It has assured that the details of complainants will be kept confidential.
