Cong, BRS using Kavitha row to divert public attention from Kaleshwaram scam, alleges Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress govt, accusing it of using the Kavitha issue as a diversionary tactic to deflect attention from public concerns and the controversial Kaleshwaram project. He alleged that both Congress and BRS were colluding to stage-manage political theatrics around Kavitha while deliberately avoiding accountability on larger scandals. “The people of Telangana are not interested in such distractions when their real problems remain unresolved,” Sanjay remarked, questioning whether the public truly desired this kind of political drama. According to him, the strategy was aimed at shielding those guilty of corruption during the BRS tenure and securing electoral advantage in the upcoming local body polls through “performances” rather than governance. Raises phone tapping case Turning to the ongoing phone tapping scandal, Sanjay pointed out that the case has dragged on for two years without resolution. Citing the testimony of former police officer P Radha Kishan Rao, he said the surveillance was carried out under the direct instructions of then chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.He questioned the govt’s inconsistency, highlighting that despite allegations that even central leaders and judges had been targeted, the case was not handed over to the CBI. Sanjay also recalled how the state had once told the court that SIB former chief T Prabhakar Rao’s assets should be seized if he failed to return from abroad. “But when he did come back, the govt allowed him to walk free without facing consequences,” he said.
