Vijayawada: Kanchikacherla in NTR district witnessed tension on Saturday evening when clashes broke out between two groups during Vinayaka immersion procession. The incident occurred near Paritala stretch of the national highway, where unknown individuals allegedly pelted stones at the processionists. According to Kanchikacherla police sub-inspector, the disturbance began when songs were being played during the immersion event. Amid the procession, unidentified persons threw stones, resulting in injuries to four individuals. The injured were treated at a nearby hospital. Large groups of devotees staged a protest on Paritala road, demanding action against the culprits. Additional police forces were deployed in the village as a precautionary measure.
