E20 fuel in my car & bike: How its affected fuel efficiency & power

E20 fuel in my car & bike: How its affected fuel efficiency & power BHPian Phantom 510 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: I have two examples to share about E20 petrol fuel economy and power- Firstly, lets talk efficiency My Bullet ES350 MY2018 has run 35k kms. It has been returning a stellar fuel economy of 35-40 kmpl since it came home when ridden sanely (not hypermiling). I did my last fill up two weeks back and it included lots of slow speeds town commutes ( avg speed of 15-35 kmph) plus hard highway rides (touched as high as 120 kmph and cruised at 85-90 kmph when roads permit ) and still it returned 35 + kmpl when measured tank to tank over a distance of 350 kms clocked during the fill ups. I think my motorcycles efficiency is almost intact inspite of 20% Ethanol in petrol. However, i am gonna soon install the RE E20 complaint kit as a preventive measure. And, Our Gi10 Nios MY2021 is not E20 compliant and it has been delivering an average efficiency of 16 to 17 kmpl (mix of 70% highway & 20% city) with AC running all the time since it came home. I did calculate the efficiency of our car a week back and it returned 16.4 kmpl (17.2 kmpl on MID) during the 165 km trip it did on busy single lane where one has to constantly keep braking, row through the gears and accelerate throughout the enitre time. And for a 1.2L Kappa motor that has somehow earned a bad name for low efficiency but it did quite well if you ask me. (A 1.2L K series returns no more than 18 kmpl under the same conditions to be honest) I hope Hyundai acts soon and launch the E20 kit for the non E20 compliant Hyundai cars. And, Secondly lets talk performance – The Bullet continues with it’s torque rich performance and the Gi10 Nios with it’s refined, linear tractable power delivery like they always did. I did not notice any difference when it came to performance from the pure ‘Seat of the pants’ feel. So for now everything is good.” Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information
