Hyd’s MJ Market turns into a sea of devotion | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: By Saturday evening, the streets around Moazzam Jahi Market had transformed into a vibrant spectacle as hundreds of Ganesh idols made their way through the area in a grand immersion procession, drawing thousands of devotees clad in festive attire. The celebrations gathered momentum after 3 pm, with the afternoon’s slow trickle giving way to a surge of idols and cheering crowds by evening. Ganesh idols of every size and design rolled in—from modest carts pushed by families to towering idols loaded on decorated trucks, each accompanied by jubilant devotees, local Ganesh Utsav committees, and bursts of drumbeats and music. What added to the spectacle were the creatively themed idols that captured public imagination. One striking idol, inspired by Operation Sindoor, featured detailed representations of Indian Air Force jets and military gear. “We wanted to send a message of patriotism and were inspired by the mission’s success,” said P Rajnikanth from Goshamahal as he led the idol’s procession. Another captivating display was a village-themed idol crafted by schoolchildren from Hamilpur Gopal. “It was my children’s idea. They learned about rural life at school and loved bringing their imagination to life,” he shared with pride.A crowd favourite was a beautifully carved wooden chariot brought by M Sai Baba from Chappal Bazar. “This is a replica of the Jagannath Rath Yatra of Puri. My family has celebrated this tradition for 50 to 60 years. Every year the energy and devotion grow stronger,” he said, beaming with joy.As the crowds swelled by evening, police and volunteers cordoned off sections of the MJ Market area to ensure smooth movement. Devotees thronged the sides of the streets, some resting under metro pillars near Nampally, eagerly awaiting prasadam, food. Throughout the procession, the atmosphere buzzed with energy, as devotees honked horns in celebration, creating a joyous experience.
