No shortage of Urea in Eluru, clarifies ZP chairperson Padmashree Prasad

Eluru Zilla Parishad Chairperson Ghanta Padmashree Prasad on Wednesday (September 3) appealed to farmers not to believe in false propaganda being spread by the opposition about a shortage of urea in the district.

She clarified that during the previous kharif season (2024–25), farmers in the district used around 31,000 tonnes of urea till November. This year (2025–26), the consumption is expected to remain almost the same. Already, 28,000 tonnes have been supplied to farmers and utilised, while the remaining 3,000 tonnes will be made available within the next three months.

“There is absolutely no shortage of urea in the district. Adequate stocks are available to meet the farmers’ requirements. However, opposition parties are spreading false information to create panic among farmers, which has led some to hoard urea unnecessarily,” she said.

Assuring farmers of timely supply, she urged them not to believe rumours and to purchase only the required quantity. “The government is committed to supplying fertilisers to farmers in time. I appeal to farmers not to panic and not to fall for misleading propaganda,” she added.
