Here’s why I decided not to sell my 5 year old TVS Apache RR 310

Here’s why I decided not to sell my 5 year old TVS Apache RR 310 BHPian RPRIME95 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: A year goes by so fast …There are so many thoughts swirling around in the wet walnut above. Perhaps I should use this thread as a notepad of sorts, documenting possible options and thoughts. Lets take a short view into the past year After my previous update, lot of time has been spent waiting and watching new launches, upcoming launches etc. Possibly to my detriment. When I finally made up my mind to move on from Lola, the market had shifted. The best offers I could get offline were around 1.2L with the lowest being offered by TVS themselves (oh the irony) at 70k Now with GOI firmly stomping on with the increased GST on bikes above 350cc, I am no longer sure about selling the bike. And while I understand that I should cut my losses now, there is a feeling gnawing at me that it may not be the right choice.Next steps?Compounding my dilemma are an absolute lack of good options to upgrade to with 7-8L OTR. The Versys sits just above that, NX500 is pointless for the price it is and the upcoming 450GS is a BMW, which means I don’t really want to find out how personal finances get wrecked every service. All of which sparked a thought. Why upgrade? The 5 year warranty ended 4 days ago. If I miss this opportunity to modify the bike to my liking before maybe selling it, that would be a real shame. So I have begun planning… Draft Plan … Maybe … Maybe Not Seat – It slopes downward towards the tank as fellow owners would know. Have an appointment with the seat guy tomorrow to get that doneHandlebar – This one is slightly risky to solve. Installing risers is a lot more complicated than I originally thought. Current planned solution are these – RR310 Handlebar Risers from Amazon. The replace the fork top caps and add a spacer to increase the height. I can already envision many problems w.r.t. actual physics and geometry changes but I’ll analyse that bridge if and when I see it.Vibrations – This might be the hardest task. Items that can be done quickly are bigger bar-end weights, replacement of rubber bushes and better engine oil (I was running TVS oil due to warranty). Post this some research is needed.Lighting – Seems relatively simple but mounting & cabling will be a right old mess. Current thought is to mount it using the front mudguard mounts, that way I can ensure clearance but they will get caked during the rains instantly. Another idea is mounting them just below the headlights but that will require a rectangular aux light (for clearance with mudguard) and I haven’t found any yet.Brakes – Will switch to DOT5.1 soon. The lever has become spongy since March of this year, just before the previous service. The TVS guys are unable to fix it. This could be time consuming as I believe the ABS pump/controller has air trapped in it but the SVC does not know how to bleed that properly. As always, all your guys’ suggestions are greatly appreciated. If you guys know a good FNG anywhere in Pune, that would be fabulous. The Bike5th year service was recently done. Nothing major to replace. I have switched to Shell V-Power completely so it’s become a lot smoother higher up in the rev range. Bike sits at 276xx kms, so only 2600-odd kms running has been done this past year. Credit for that is Lola’s sibling, Ellie. I would be updating that thread shortly. Definitely will be causing some laughs and sighs with that. So that is it for now, I will try and be much more active on the mods and what is happening, but given how that has panned out across different platforms for me in the past, definitely don’t hold your breath just yet.Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
